UPDATE ON ROD....thank you everyone for your kind msgs and especially for your prayers for Rod and me too. It has been a very long tiring day. Rod just went to bed. Feeling better but wore out.

Went to ER before 11 and didn't get back in a room until about 12:30. So many flu pts. here, had them lying around in waiting room on couches with blankets and pillows and nurses coming out to ck on them and ckg temps etc. Heard later that ER was closed to ambulances today for awhile, no room for more folks. Hope we don't catch the flu on top of everything else but did get our flu shots earlier.

The nurses were great and one was the same as he had when he was in hosp back on Jan 7th. She remembered him being in there for blood in the stool. Very sweet lady and understood what was going on too.

They ended up doing some more xrays and didn't find blockages as such, just packed in and wasn't moving on out. They finally decided to do a soap suds enema. Never heard of that but it did seem to work. They sent him home just before 5 so long day. His stomach still hurts some and is really touchey when they poked around on him.

Wouldn't give him pain meds, causes constipation. Finally gave him Ativan to calm him down some and reglan for the nausea. He got really mellow and sleepy real fast. Wish they had sent a few home with him. I could use them for him when I need some sleep. LOL

He starts 2 days of clear liquids sat and sun, a colon prep sun nite, and a colonoscopy on mon. He is not happy to celebrate super bowl sunday with liquids and not the alcohol kind either. He doesn't drink any more anyway but would have loved some chips etc during the game. Oh well if they can find out what is wrong with him, we will both be relieved and maybe get on with our lives somewhere besides in urgent care, ER or the hosp. Been a crazy year so far.

Gotta scoot. Need some sleep tonight. Cats and Rod are asleep already and not even 9:30 yet. thank you all again for your kind words of encouragement and your prayers for both of us. You will never know what it means to us that so many care. Please keep us on your prayer list for a few more days until this is all over with.

God bless each and every one of you, our delightful prayer warriors. Love and hugs across the miles, Shirley Mae, Rod and the kittycats too.

ORIG MSG.. Fri Morning
Prayers please.....Rod is terribly sick. Dr apt today but called her and said go to ER. Don't wait. Still totally backed up for over a wk and nothing is working and he is in so much pain. Been thru all kinds of dr prescribed meds, enemas, laxatives..... and nothing works.

I am really scared. I know God is with us but I would appreciate your prayers too. I have had so little sleep lately but did get some off and on so I am ok, just worried.

God bless, thank you all. I know you are there when I need you. Shirley Mae

takes a village we say here and praying for both of you.. Hope they can help rod.. Rest assure in this world of technology and medicine surely they can find a way to help him..

After my operation I was threatened with laxatives and I cried knowing if that happened they be no stopping my diarrhea and I'd still be in hospital.. After inquiring quilters told me was best cz if it ruptures maybe death for me so to explain me that nurses were looking over me..

Sometimes we need to hear reassuring words and you are doing the right thing in reaching out for us to pray and be your listening ears for a moment.
