Good morning (early) -
Well, I am back to not sleeping very well. Today is open sew day at the LQS. But, it also has snowed during the night. But, it seems to only have stuck to the cars and grass. I am hoping it doesn't affect the schedule at the shop. I need help on my paper piecing block. Yesterday I put the final border on my UFO quilt. Now I just have to piece the backing. Have a wonderful day.

Well, I just took one of our dogs out and it is snowing again and this time it is sticking to the roads some. The shop owner follows the school system but so far it is still open. So we shall see.

Good Morning All

A few snow flurries yesterday afternoon along with a biting cold wind. Our weather is so up and down....60 one day and 20 the next. Today is a cold one and was supposed to be the day to get horses new shoes, but that was cancelled and moved to Thursday. Of course I had plans for Thursday, which will now have to be changed.

Working on my chicken wall hanging....sewing down pieces and putting a backing on. Going to stretch it behind a frame that will have hinges on it....that way when it is hung in front of the electric box door....it will easily moved for access.

Hope to get in the studio today after barn chores are finished, so cross your fingers for me. Had to go to town yesterday, so I went ahead and got horse feed early. Another horse show to work this Saturday.......hope it isn’t too cold.

Need to read and catch the past few days of your posts. Take care and prayers for all in need.

Good morning ! Today running to ac moores with my sister, Laura. She needs to find some little projects to keep her busy. Wish she wanted to learn how to sew, oh well. Would like to have the set up as Suzette has with her daughter (sewing together and teaching her) I can imagine the laughter and fun you two have.

Jaykay hope the snow doesn't get to bad, it has been a awful winter all over. 60 today but last week it was 15-20 at night.

Hope to sew a table topper for the dining room. Every time I get a little done, hubby needs help in the garage. Yuk! Tool and what-not saver for the past 48 years. (Throw it out) "Never know when you'll need it" GRR!!

Hope you have some smiles today.

Good morning. It's going to be another great day today.

Maryq, I'm not sure one of those robot vacuum's would do much here. We'd have to empty it so often. between dog hair and thread we can fill up a vacuum. Hope your Elna feels better quickly. Maybe it's time for an upgrade?

Katy, for the BOM I have a set of FQ's that I bought a few years ago. Still in the wrapper. they are kind of civil war colors. It's by Moda and called Vintage Reserve. I also have other FQ sets I can use. But I'm thinking of using the Moda. How about you? have you decided?

Maryz, glad you are getting your house back in order. Now you can sit back and enjoy it. I'll mail my blocks on Friday.

Sherry, was your friend Ann ever married? Did she not pay into social security.? Sorry for her troubles.

Kathy, hope the dentist was a quick visit.

Sharona, prayers for a successful doctor visit. Hope they figure it out and resolve it easily. Prayers for DH too. my goodness, three months will seem a lot longer for him than it really is. You'll have to surprise him every so often with something equal to a CT BOM.

Lea, maybe the stinky person on the bus wanted to be guaranteed a seat?

Lois, enjoy your chiropractor adjustment. It always feels so good to be aligned.

Suzette, sounds like you and Lois have the same snow. I don't have any snow or rain or moisture at all. Hope the paper piecing is an easy lesson.

Joyce, I'm looking forward to seeing your chicken wall hanging.

Becca, prayers for a quick and uneventful doctor appt. We are supposed to be in the 70's this weekend.

Diane. hope you find something fun for you and your sister to do together.

I have the most wonderful husband in the entire universe. Yesterday my low tire light came on. He stopped by my work, took my car and put new tires on it. Then he went grocery shopping, picked up my perscription and made me a delicious meatloaf dinner. It's so good to be me. I am very blessed.

You all have a marvelous day,

After 8 hrs yesterday, I found my sewing machine.

Joe is 6'5", so slacks for him are never cheap. I offered to add lace to a shorter pair to save money and he said no.

Coffee now

Good morning we had about 4 inches of new snow and it is cold and breezy. I need to get stuff out to the camper but right now it is in piles in the house...tomorrow we will turn on the fridge and start loading it up...finish thursday,,,I am getting excited to get out of dodge but it looks like the trip down will be very cold....we have antifreeze in all the pipes and Ken said we may not have water for the 2 days going down since it is cold in Kentucky and georgia,,,so it will be using the camp facilities for showers,,,we wont clear out pipes till we get to florida...that makes for a lot of eating out on the road...I usually make food. but with no water, it will be hard,,,many of the campgrounds have their water shut off and if they have water you need a heated hose. so we will make the best of it...

i just heard it is supposed to go up to the 40s weds and thurs.

Still deciding what sewing stuff I will take...baby;ock and lots of scraps to make table toppers are the order of the day,,,maybe some with hand applique on them, also looking for new quilt shop as the one we always went to is closed, so sad it was run by a lady from england and it was a great shop. the second 2 weeks we will move to a new town and there is a quilt shop still there...

well I need to get dressed and move myself...hope you all get to sew a bunch,,,XXXOOO

Good morning all, guess I missed yesterday.

On the run as always, Scouts helped me last night to move all the bags out of the prep room. One said, "this is worse than the last time!". He may have been right.

Really short on nurses so being pulled in 6 different directions. Meeting with my nurses today to attempt to get them to step it up.

After work I am going to the church to work on the membership report.

Nice week for weather for us here in N.CA. Mostly 60's for the next 10 days or so.

Hope everyone has a great day and get a few stitches in for me. Hoping to go to Midnight Sew on Friday.

Good Morning Girls

Back into the deep freeze here, but no matter.. I have to get out of the house today! NEED FOOD! Ugh.

Valerie.... Now I'm convinced... you don't sleep!

Judi... OMG it's that cold on your route to FL that pipes could freeze? I do love eating out, but on the road like that, after a while it gets old. I'm sure you've thought of this, but how about some extra gallons of water?

Flo... You found your machine!!! Yippee! And Joe didn't go for the idea of extending his pants with lace? He could start a new trend!

Chriss... You do have the most wonderful DH in the world.. but then any man that cooks is okay by me! DEX decided he didn't like to cook and he just wasn't going to do it! Guess that meant that because I have boobs, I cook! Another reason he's a DEX.

Diane... Does your sister knit or crochet? Any interest in those things? I'm afraid I wouldn't be much help in the garage...I can run across something odd and think "hmmm, what could I do with this"

Becca.... Hope all goes well at your Dr. visit.. just routine stuff right?

Joyce... Ah, the "best laid plans of Mice and Men" Or what's that other says "We make plans and God laughs"

Suzette... It almost sounds like you've gotten more snow this year than we have. The Bus Co. makes the decision about closing schools here too, but MN has a great plowing system, so it doesn't happen very often.

Lois... Hope your work day goes quickly.

As I said, I'm going to get out of the house this morning, going to take both of my sewing machines to the Dr. My old old old one (I've seen it on E-bay as vintage) just needs a new foot pedal, I hope!
And my poor Elna is just draggin these days. I've done a little research on perhaps a new Janome. My repair guy in a Janome dealer. Perhaps he has a slightly used one? ON the Janome web site. there's a SALE! I just have to figure out how to justify a new machine.

time to shower and get in gear!

Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday!

Good morning.

I woke up t 0430 which seems to be my usual lately, but suddenly it was 0530! :o)

Yesterday we cleaned the garage and I also cleaned the freezer and the laundry room. I even washed the hot water heater! I'm on a roll! And I've gotta get off it before it kills me. But I only have our master bath left to clean and then to go through my closet and our house will be clean. We should wash some windows, too. I didn't get to them all. But we don't have too many and I can talk Bill into helping with that. I think. I even got my travel Janome set up and turned on yesterday! Didn't actually sew anything yet, but soon. My Bernie is still languishing away at the Bernie Spa.

SUZETTE - Do you nap much when you wake up so early? I hope you can get into your LQS.

LOIS - I've been going to the chiro regularly since last May. I feel like a new person! Hope your snow isn't a big deal.

JOYCE - smart of you to hinge your frame! That should work well. We painted our elect box cover to match the wall in our family room but I'd like to have a scene painted onto the box itself. But I'm not an artist. So maybe one day - a wallhanging like yours.

BECCA - good luck at the dr. My dr is a young woman who graduated from the high school 1/2 mile down the road from my house. 4 years after my oldest DD. She has a sign over her scale that reads, "it's just a number". but I still never want to look at that number!!

DIANE - maybe your sis would enjoy beading? or scrapbooking? or crochet, hand embroidery, cross-stitch? Those are thing she could work on while you sew and you could still be together.

CHRISS - you are indeed lucky to have Jerry. But he is equally as lucky to have you!! Glad you are going to have a great day. I am, too. This would be my 47th wedding anniversary. We were only 19 when we were married and Mike has been gone now for 33 years - as long as he was alive. But wasn't I the lucky one to have been married to him for 14 years! Something to celebrate! I will be on the lookout for your blocks late this week or early next.

FLO - I see your machine!! and your table! and your chair!! You are making progress! your hubby is 6'5"?? Gosh, Bill is only 5'7" and he seems tall to me, (4'11-1/2"). When my oldest brother was just out of high school and working in the woods, he had my mom sew lace on the the bottom of his dungarees. Loggers usually wear their pants a bit high water for safety. Gene was a bit of a rogue and thought it a good joke to add the lace.

JUDI - Yeah, you're smart to keep those pipes protected while traveling. But you WILL be taking a few jugs of water for coffee, right?? Have you thought about Christmas gifts yet for 2018? Maybe they would be good projects to take along. Get a head start. Hope you find a good LQS when you get down there.

SHARONA - I do remember that your son has heart disease. and I've been wondering how he is doing. and also how YOU are doing.

KATHY - you went to the dentist, right? Just a check-up or did you have to have work done?

Over in Supper Club I posted a link to photos of all our hard work the past few weeks if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Have a sew-per day!
mary z

VAL - what is your job title? Are you head nurse? charge nurse? DNS? Other? Do you do actual patient care or are you strictly management? Right out of nursing school I worked evenings for two years in a geriatric care facility. I went in an hour early, stayed an hour late, and charted through my dinner hour. (for no pay, I might add). I was racing down those halls passing meds, doing assessments, dressing changes, and other procedures. I told them I needed another nurse and their response was that I wasn't working hard enough. When I finally quit, it wasn't two months and I heard they had hired two nurses to replace me. No one else was willing to do it all with no breaks and for no pay. There is always a shortage of staff and $$ in care facilities.

MARY Q - sounds like you might be adding a new little something to your life soon! Maybe they will give you a good trade-in for your old machines. Also, don't forget to get a 1/4" foot tossed in to clinch the deal! Unless you are fortunate enough to find a machine that comes with one.

Good morning!

Suzette - it's awful to not sleep well - I hope your bout with insomnia is a short one. Have fun at the open sew.

Lois - have fun at the chiro and at work.

Joyce - I love the sounds of your chicken wall hanging. Sorry your plans had to be changed on Thursday. Stay warm.

Becca - good luck at the doctor's.

Diane - have a great time at the store with your sis. That saving stuff could drive me to drink. Grr indeed!

Chriss - oh my Jerry does indeed win the husband of the month contest! What a wonderful thing for him to do. And he cooks too. Meatloaf for dinner sounds yummy.

Flo - there's your sewing room! It looks great. Too funny about the lace on the pants.

Judi - wow I never thought about the pipes when it's that cold. Hope you're feeling better.

Wesig - that's nice the scouts helped you move stuff. Hope the nursing shortage resolves itself.

Maryq - a new machine - how exciting! Maybe there will be something new and exciting at the grocery store that will make the trip worthwhile. We have a Roomba - they are GREAT on tile and wood but not so much on carpet.

Maryz - you're almost 5'! DS1 is doing well - thanks for asking. His son turned 13 in December and they are having so much fun with the teenager. He's still sweet to me and I'm glad for that. I'll go check out your piccies.

It's going to be in the mid-60s here today, and then snow tomorrow. We had about twelve deer in the fenced in part of our yard yesterday - including two bucks. I did my LALALALALLALA really loud and they jumped the fence, so I let the dog out. She immediately went and barked her fool head off, one of those freaking bucks actually turned and started walking towards the fence as if to jump back into the yard. There have been so many dogs gored by these ding dang deer this rutting season. We're going to get a rubber bullet gun, as the pellet gun has no affect on them. Geeze louise! Have a wonderful and blessed day. xoxo Sharona

Good Snowy Morning.....

The snow is ending for me. There's only a dusting. Kimberly said they are getting 7" on Long Island. A good day for sewing & soup.

My trip to the dentist went smoothly. Had a filling replaced between my 2 front teeth, can't even see it. The car passed inspection...that's always good.

Love & Prayers............Kathy

Good morning all. Back to cold here and about 1 inch of snow. No wonder we are all sick. Not much on today except to go to funeral viewing for my friend's mom. Tomorrow is the funeral and I will be going to that also. Smoke sure doesn't like this weather. he wants to get out and romp around the yard but too cold. just goes out does his business and back to the house. His fenced in area is always the longest grass when it comes to mowing. LOL

Suzette - Hope you get over your insomnia soon and get some sleep.

Sharona - I have deer in my backyard too but not as many as you.

WeSig - Hope you get some more nurse help. I know how you feel I had the same problem in my job, but lives didn't depend on it.

Judi - Hope you have a safe trip to Florida. Please bring back some warm weather.

Flo - Glad you found your sewing machine.

Chriss - My friend Ann has never been married, and worked jobs with no pension. Her only income is her SS Disability check. Sounds like you have a great husband. He is a keeper.

Becca - Hope your checkup goes well.

Joyce - I think of you and your barn chores in this cold weather. Stay warm and well.

Well better go get some ambition and do something. have a good day everyone.

Good morning!

We are very nice here, almost as warm as where we lived in California. The snow is gone here, again.

Not much new, guess that is my new norm. Will head to the Batt Cave and stir up some trouble.

Do something fun!

Good morning. I had great intentions this morning to get here even before daylight. However, my laptop had other ideas. First, the Will Finish wasn't working, then I found my laptop was trying to to an update, then my Norton Security had to run a check, and do a backup. Gosh, by the time I got all that done, I had other things that I needed to do. Now it's lunch and head off to sewing. So a quick hello, maybe I can catch you all tomorrow. Vel

how interesting this morning turned out to be.. Furs went out in the blistering cold of winter and sat under the front door shade looking one direction the other trying to figure where this weather is coming or going. Then they meowed to come inside.. One brave little further to stand out in the open yard to really get a good picture when nxt door's gate swung open/shut in the wind that was the determining factor for him.. All 3 returned.. When they saw me getting ready to take out garbage to garage that was their chance to B-line in the garage and up the attic they chased each other except for the thin skin/bone he not the same balance as other two different breed. Here he was trying to figure out how to climb the other 2 waited for him and coaxed him on.. Then he decided his talent was low to the ground and fast. Tog. they work things out. When they came back inside they would chase each other to keep warm and outpass the other getting ahead of the wind. KNOCK YOURSELF OUT KTNS. Then like a drop of a hat they stopped in their tracks and layed down in each others arms. What a team.. GANGSTERS. But wait when I decided to go out they raced in front of me test wind and preferred I stay home.. Makes you think if they are predicting something. How is it that those school kids love the storms. and I grown to push myself.
Well most of groceries are done and think tomorrow stay home to do cleaning.
