Mine was the Rail Fence pattern. After making it, I was hooked on quilting.

A simple Four-Patch - I was 8 years old and have been quilting ever since - I grew up under the quilts and played under them as my Grandmother and Mom would hand quilt.

I am so hooked! LOL

I took a class called " beginning to end " with a wonderful teacher when I was living in Oregon. I've never looked back!
I don't remember what the pattern was called, but it has star blocks and four patch blocks. I still really like the quilt and I learned how to make a quilt from cutting to binding!

It was simply 6 inch squares from a fat quarter bundle of six fabrics - purple, yellow and green - about 4 feet by 4 feet. It hangs over my sewing studio door as my inspiration that all quilts are beautiful :)

I bought a book with different size templets and the very first quilt was for my hubby. The name of the quilt is Churn Dash. Date Jan 2009, Great therapy to help eaze the mind while your love one has chemo treatments. I used one of El border ideals from her Victory quilts and the colors are Brown, Blue, Light Tan, and Very Light Tan. I have made a total of 12 quilts I have photos of each one in my brag book. I am sooo hocked now that no one can take me away!! I taught myself and still learning.

I took a class it was a sampler quilt I drove about 60 miles the first Saturday of the month just to get the block free! That was before the gas prices got so high.

My first real quilt was an attic window for DH's mom and step-dad. I didn't know then, that it was a difficult pattern. At least the way I did it was difficult! I didn't even know about rotary cutters in those days! They admired it, stuffed it in a plastic bag, and put it "away". Twenty yrs later, when we cleaned out their house, it was still on the top shelf of the closet, still in that bag.

I used El's books (several of them) and did a patriotic sampler quilt for my husband. It was supposed to be a wall hanging but I kept finding more blocks I liked so it is a king size quilt. Loved using her patterns.

My first quilt was a Hunter's Star. I traced each piece around cardboard templates, and cut the pieces out with scissors! It is a king size quilt that is still on our bed. Then I found Eleanor's show on PBS! Quilting is a lot more fun now that I know her time saving methods!
