This is it, the count down to Christmas day! I hope you are all finished with projects, have your shopping done, and can now relax and enjoy the holidays. I am doing some last minute scurrying around to finish up! Now is the time to shop for yourself! Don’t forget the special Gift Certificate sale, valid through December 31!

Last week we had our curved safety pins on sale but had a computer glitch that showed them out of stock. That has been fixed and I am extending the sale through this week.

We have a new Accu-Quilt die cut rag quilt that I am excited about! This one is a baby quilt in flannel that is appropriate for either a boy or girl. The kit comes with the pre-cut top squares, pre-cut backing squares, and the batting! This is quilt-as-you-go so you can finish it in about 3-4 hours!

I am hard at work on my book “Quilt Blocks on American Barns” that will be available in April. I’m also working on the new 2010 Block Party! I am excited about it because you will receive instructions for a small quilt each month!

Paducah Sewing School – Sign Ups April 17, 18, 19

Have you seen those neat Jelly Rolls and wondered what to do with them? Wonder no more! Eleanor Burns is teaching “Twice as Nice, plus More” at the 2010 Paducah Sewing in Kentucky. This pattern offers three adorable possibilities that can be made with just one Jelly Roll! Simply sew those strips together into pairs of three and cut. Using the 9 ½” Triangle Square Up Ruler, you can make the largest quilt (52” x 64”). From the leftovers you make the traditional Nine-Patch Block quilt (35” x 42”) and Whirlwind Block quilt (37” x 45”)! If you ever wanted to learn the easiest way to calculate and mark scalloped borders, here’s your chance! Eleanor teaches you how to use Quilt in a Day’s Scallops, Vines & Waves Template.

This is truly a Quilt (or possibly three) in a Day!

· The fabric Kit containing one complete Jelly Roll, Background, Border and Binding fabric for all three quilts and a coupon to our Fabric Frenzy Tent to purchase your backings. Also you will receive the Twice as Nice, Plus More signature pattern and 9 ½” Triangle Square up Ruler. Batting is sold separately.

· The classroom is provided with sewing machines, ironing and cutting stations. All you need to bring is your personal sewing notions. We will send a supply list, map and directions to all registered students.

2010 Online Block Party
with Eleanor Burns “Strip Tzz”

Eleanor has been working on her Block of the Month (BOM) for 2010 and it is a doozy!

Each month she will have a different quilt pattern, using 2 1/2" Strips (Jelly Rolls), 1 1/2" Strips (Honey Buns), 10" Squares (Layer Cakes), 5" Squares (Charms) or some UFO's (Unfinished Objects).

This is going to be fun, sewing and using up mountains of scraps! For beginning quilters, fabric selection will be easy, the majority of the projects will be scrappy quilts – just use what you have or buy a pre-cut package, like a Jelly Roll or Layer Cake.

This is how it works, every month you will receive a full color pattern booklet with the design and technique for that month. An online demonstration for that month will be available to watch free on our media theater. By year end, you will have 12 patterns that you can use over and over again to make pretty quilts! Let your imagination soar as we sew each quilt!

Sign up for block party today! It is $84.00 for the whole year, that is just $7.00 per pattern, and includes postage (USA members only. International members will received patterns via email). First pattern will arrive the middle of January.

Block Party meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month. Patterns will be mailed to US members within the week following Block Party. Foreign members will receive each month’s pattern via email with a PDF attachment. The taping will generally be available in our Media Theater by the end of each week.

The 12-month cost of $84.00 (which is charged upon registration) equates to $7.00 per month.
