Tote Exchange...Please check in.....

This is a tote bag exchange due February 2, 2009. So there is over 3 months to make and mail these tote bags. The rules for the swap are as follows:

Totes must be POSTMARKED BY Feb. 2, 2009. This day is a Monday so you will be able to get to the post office to mail out your totes.

Totes should measure approx. 11"x14" or bigger if you should choose to do so.

There is no need to fill the tote with anything, this is a TOTE SWAP, but if you so choose to add something to the tote just to make it more fun you may do so, but you are under no obligation to put anything in the tote.

If your partner has special instructions, such as no embellishments or fragrances, please be sure to follow those.

There is no limit to how many people can sign up since each person will only be making one tote for their assigned partner. I will start the list off at 20 people and if we get more so be it, if not that is fine too.

Sign ups will close on December 27, 2008 to give your partner a chance to make your tote.

Now for the fun stuff:
There are many free tote patterns out there on the web, I goggled "free tote bag patterns" and came up with a great deal. Here are two of those sites to get you started.

http://mamaspocketbook.com/freebies.htm

http://www.craftandfabriclinks.com/totebag/totebag.html

Some people already have tote patterns they like to use, such as the charm tote or messenger bag patterns. Feel free to use which ever pattern you like, be creative, just so long as the tote is at least 11"x14" you have free choice.

If you want to join the tote swap send me a PM with:

Forum name:
Real Name:
Address:
Favorite colors:
Favorite themes:
(such as, dogs, cats, sewing themes, floral, etc)
Anything you prefer:

OR if you are open enough to just let your partner's creativity flow you may just skip the favorites part and have some added fun of a total surprise!

This is going to be a fun swap!

I've never made a tote before, but I'm making three for Christmas presents. Let me get back you to let you know after I'm done with them.

Thinking about this one. I'll have to wait and see how much I can get done on my UFOs before the end of the year. My DH is on my case about swapping and not completing my projects. Imagine that!! LOL

Michelle, I really have to think about this one.
I know I will get almost everything done that needs to be done before 1/1/2009......But....I'll have the BOM's to keep up with as well.

I have NEVER made a tote YET! Meaning, I will need more time. (LOL to think about it).

ONE tote?
Can I make ONE tote?
How long does it take to make ONE tote? (IF you've never made one)

I haven't made a real tote either. I put two pieces of fabric together and sewed them up the sides and added a handle to make a really ugly bag before, but never a quality tote. If I can do it you can too! :)
