Last summer Eleanor visited the Country Barn Quilt Trail in the picturesque farming communities of Orleans County, New York. There are more than 30 Barn Quilts on the tour and each one is a delight to see. The “quilts” are made of large square boards, painted to resemble a quilt block, and mounted on the sides of barns throughout the county. Some are traditional patterns with colorful shapes and designs while others are less distinct. Each was handpicked by its owner to create a unique quilt block, measuring up to 8 feet square. Together, the blocks are meant to form a
whole - one community, one quilt.
Eleanor’s 2009 Block Party will be based on 18 patterns from Barn Quilts all over the country and you are invited to attend! It isn’t practical for many of you to drive to San Marcos, California each month, so we will bring it to you via our website in our new Media Theater. Each month we will tape the physical block party and Eleanor will teach the new techniques and show you how she has simplified the pattern. Just like her in-house students, you will receive the block pattern(s) printed in full color. You will receive one to two block patterns each month in the mail. By the end of the year, you will have all 18 patterns for your Sampler quilt.
Block Party meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month. Patterns will be mailed to US members within the week following Block Party. Foreign members will receive each month’s pattern via email with a PDF attachment. The taping will generally be available in our Media Theater by the end of each week.

Notice: Membership in Eleanor’s On-Line Block Party will be pro-rated for members who decide to quit and request a refund. The 12-month cost of $72 (which is charged upon registration) equates to $6.00 per month. Members who quit will receive a refund for the remaining months of patterns they have not received.
